Zhivka, from the Bulgarian, means ‘life’. My name, as my heritage and my bonds across two continents, inform how I view my world – with appreciation for the vibrancy of a diverse lens, open to a wealth of wide experiences and perspectives.

I am a clinical psychologist by profession, but the dream always--since middle school, at least--has been to be a novelist. My genre of choice is women's fiction, with its exploration of the space women hold in life's fluid interplay and the roles they choose, or are expected to fulfill. And, as any fan of women's fiction will predict -- I love the rebellious leading ladies, and any character untethered to convention and external canon.

 

After a few address changes over the years, I now live in Virginia Beach, married to the love of my life. My husband and I are the proud parents of a teen daughter with much rebel potential, and a tiny shih-tzu who rules all of our worlds.
